Prey and Predators

1.Add vocabulary to notebook: Populations and Ecosystems Vocabulary 9-17 to understand the roles within an ecosystem and the possible limits and adaptations organisms make in order to survive

2. Read p. 64-68 Miniecosystems create charts to keep track of the organisms that are in the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, their food sources, and potential predators and  observe changes in terrestrial & aquatic Mini-ecosystems

Assignments #8

3/22

Symbiosis

1. Discuss Ecosystems Card Sort results and reasons for an Individual, Population, Community,  Ecosystem

2. Take notes and discuss:

Symbiosis: close relationship between species

Mutualism: both organisms benefit

Commensalisms: 1 organism benefits- other not harmed

Parasitism: 1 organism benefit, other harmed

Habitat: where an organism lives

Niche: how an organism survives in it’s habitat ex. how it gets food- avoids danger

3. Read p. 64-68 Miniecosystems create charts to keep track of the organisms that are in the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, their food sources, and potential predators and  observe changes in terrestrial & aquatic Mini-ecosystems

NJCCCS 5.1  & 5.5, 5.10

Assignments #8

Read text p.690-708 and complete 35. Interactions with Communities/ Interactions of Life

3/23 Study Island NJ ASK 8 Review

1. Prepare for NJ ASK by using the the Studyisland.com website to review  Science lessons: Standard 5.9 Astronomy

2. Take practice tests Review Standard 5.9 Astronomy

3. Go to: Foss Populations and Ecosystems Website to work with a simulated population of walking sticks that exhibit color variation. They use two levels of the multimedia simulation to investigate the impact of predation on the insects in three different environments
A. Multimedia-
