Creating a Daily Journal
- Open a Word Document
- From the View menu, open Headers and Footers.
Type your name followed by Daily Journal (i.e. Ellie’s Daily
Journal). Set the font to Cooper Black, and the font size to 26.
Choose a font color of your choice, center the text, and close the Header
Footer view when finished.
- Insert a table, from the tool bar, with 2 columns and 12
rows.
- Highlight column 1, go to the Tables menu, and
click Table Properties. Change the column width to .75 inches.
- Highlight column 2, go to the Tables menu, and
click Table Properties. Change the column width to 5.3 inches.
- In column 1, row 1, type Date. In column2, row 1
type Journal Entry. Highlight the entire first row, set the font to 12
and change to Bold.
- Highlight the entire first column, and center the data.
Always enter the date to look as follows 9/10/09
- Highlight the entire sheet by clicking the upper left
corner (look for the ).
From the Table menu, go to Table Auto Format and click Table
Colorful 3 (Apply this formatting).
- Highlight all of the cells in column 2 except the top
row. Right click and go to Boarders and Shading. Select No Fill,
and clear the pattern Style. Your writing area should now be white
with no pattern.
- Enter today’s date in the first row of column one, hit
the tab button, and begin typing your journal for today. Be sure to save your
work!
